Getting Started at Growing in Motion

Wondering whether therapy might help your child? We're here to make getting started simple.

At Growing in Motion, we take time to understand your child—not just the skills they are working on, but their interests, strengths, challenges, and what helps them feel comfortable and connected. Our team provides individualized occupational, physical, and speech therapy in a supportive environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

1. Intake

Reach out to our team by phone, email, or our online contact form. We'll learn a little about your child, answer your questions, and help you determine the next steps.

Before the evaluation, we'll ask you to complete an intake packet. This gives you an opportunity to share your child's developmental history, strengths, interests, and areas where your family could use support.

You know your child best. Your perspective helps us understand the whole picture.

2. Evaluation

Your child's evaluation is an opportunity for us to learn about their abilities, challenges, and developmental needs. Depending on the reason for the referral, we may look at areas such as sensory processing, motor skills, communication, coordination, attention, or participation in everyday activities.

Evaluations typically take 60 minutes. We adapt our approach to meet each child's needs and help them feel as comfortable as possible.

We also want to hear from you. Your observations, concerns, and goals are an important part of the evaluation.

Afterward, we'll prepare a report outlining our findings and recommendations, including whether therapy may be beneficial and which areas to prioritize.

Physical therapy evaluations require a physician's prescription.

3. Therapy

Once the evaluation is complete and therapy is recommended, we'll work with you to develop an individualized plan based on your child's needs and goals.

Our therapists use creative, play-based activities to help children build meaningful skills. That might mean building a video-game-inspired obstacle course to work on balance, creating a game to develop communication, or climbing, swinging, and crashing into pillows to support movement and sensory regulation.

The activities may look like play, but each one has a purpose.

We follow your child's lead, build on their interests, and introduce the right challenges to help them grow. Along the way, we partner with parents and caregivers, sharing practical strategies that can support progress at home and in everyday routines.

Our goal is bigger than mastering a skill in a therapy session. We want children to feel more confident, connect with others, participate in daily life, and discover what they're capable of doing.
